Employment Development Services
This service is a "real work" program designed to help an individual develop the necessary physical capacities, proper work habits and skills, as well as social and interpersonal skills to obtain and maintain employment. Program managers and supervisors provide ongoing support and training on the job site to ensure the participant's success.
This service is provided at the Tommy Nobis Center facility as well as many community based companies. Some of the business partners include Wellstar, Kroger, Owens & Minor, and many others which serve as "host" companies for training and employment of TNC participants.
Other specialized programs available include classroom instruction, GED preparation, job readiness, work practices, mobility training (use of public transit), and other vocationally related topics.
Individual course work and training in specific fields such as training in call center operations, customer service or help desk can also be provided to employers with specific hiring needs. The job-training curriculum includes assessment of basic skills, resume preparation, interviewing skills, and dressing for success and appropriate work behaviors.
As an extension of TNC's center-based program, enclaves provide program participants with group work experiences. Job coaches are on-site daily supervising participants.
- Program participants who train at our enclaves earn a salary as they improve their work skills.
- Program participants receive customized training and on-site job coaching that enhance personal growth.
