2008 TOMMY AWARDS

On April 17, the Tommy Nobis Center hosted its annual Galaxy of Stars luncheon to honor the outstanding workplace accomplishments of individuals with disabilities and recognize the community partners who advocate on their behalf.

The Galaxy of Stars event began in 1998 to recognize workers with disabilities who “reach for the stars” and organizations/community leaders who champion their inclusion by providing employment, mentorship and support. This event fosters public awareness and strengthens community partnerships by helping educate about the needs of individuals with disabilities and the power of these individuals gaining employment, achieving economic self-sufficiency and exercising choice in life.

There are several ways for you to get involved and show your support for the Tommy Nobis Center:

1. Become a Sponsor
2. Nominate Someone You Know
3. Attend the Event and Tell a Friend

Become a Sponsor
The Galaxy of Stars luncheon is an annual event where individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment are recognized for their outstanding efforts within the workplace.  Companies and organizations throughout Georgia are recognized for their inclusion of these individuals by providing employment, mentorship and support. Last year, more than 350 people from across the state attended this event and thousands of dollars were raised to fund vocational and employment services directly affecting youth and adults with disabilities.

Proceeds from the luncheon benefit the Tommy Nobis Foundation and go directly to provide services and programs to more than 600 individuals we serve annually. A portion of the proceeds go to the Mission Endowment which allows the Tommy Nobis Center to make sure there is always a source of funding to provide needed services to disabled individuals

Sponsorship benefits, information and registration material can be downloaded by clicking here. Information about Joint Sponsorship for both Galaxy of Stars and the Tommy Nobis Center Golf Classic can be found by contacting Stacy O'Reilly at 770-427-9000, ext. 5120 or e-mail stacyo@tommynobiscenter.org
