Beginning Office Technology Training

Computer Training Center courses combine skills training with practical work-simulation exercises. Our Office Technology trainer instructs students in Keyboarding, Data Entry, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet & Computing Core (IC 3),  Internet and Job-Readiness. Specific courses include Customer Service Representative training and Certification.

TRAINING COURSES

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TRAINING

This two-week course equips students with skills needed for a customer service/help desk position.

Customer Support Skills
Telephone Etiquette, Communicating Effectively, Identifying and Solving Problems, Dealing with Difficult People, Using Appropriate Resources, Documenting Your Actions, and Customer Satisfaction.

Job Training
Work-simulated exercises in the classroom culminate in a three-day workshop in a live call center.


BEGINNING OFFICE TECHNOLOGY

This eight-week, half-day course equips participants with basic computer skills (Microsoft Office certification is optional).

Practical Office 2003 & Keyboarding
Computer Hardware Components, Windows 2003, Type-By-Touch, 10-Key Data Entry, Proofreading, and Format of Basic Correspondence.

Windows 2003 & Keyboarding

Computer Hardware Components, Windows 2003, Type-By-Touch, 10-Key Data Entry, Proofreading, and Format of Basic Correspondence.

Microsoft Word
Workspace, Help, Creating, Editing, Saving, Printing, Formatting Text and Documents, Cut, Copy, Paste, Grammar Tools, Creating Envelopes, Borders and Shading, Bullets and Numbering, Symbols, Tables, Tabs and Document Templates.

Microsoft Excel
Workspace, Help, Entering Data and Formatting Columns, Using Basic Formulas, Copying Formulas, Formatting, and Printing Worksheets.

Microsoft Outlook
Attach files to items, Modify appointments, Create and Edit Cantata, Modify e-mail  Message Settings and Delivery Options, Link Contacts to Other Items.


This eight-week, half-day course offers a review of general office and keyboarding skills and and instruction in advanced word processing, spreadsheet, and data entry and presentation software. The training will equip participants for an entry-level administrative assistant position.

Prerequisite: Familiarity with basic features of MS Word, Excel and Access.

Learn how to make professional presentations using templates, designs and graphic elements. Create exciting slide shows.

Windows 2003 & Keyboarding
Review of Windows 2003, Review of Keyboarding Skills, with Emphasis on Increased Accuracy and Speed.

Microsoft Word
Review of Beginning Word Features, Emphasis on Advanced Features-Columns, Word Art, Graphics, Sorting a Table, Find, Search, Replace, Headers and Footers, Section Breaks, Mail Merge, Label Merge, and Macros. Curriculum combines skills training with practical work-simulation exercises.


ADVANCED OFFICE TECHNOLOGY

Microsoft Access
Review of Basic Features, Emphasis on Advanced Features-Using Filters and Queries, Sorting Data and Creating Reports.

Microsoft PowerPoint
Workspace, Help, Selecting Backgrounds and Slide Layouts, Formatting Titles and Text, Transition and Build Effects, Adding Sound Effects, Creating Organizational Charts, Inserting Graphics and Animation, Recording Sound Bytes, Using Automatic Timings, Creating Charts and Graphs, and Running a Slide Show.  Learn how to make professional presentations using templates, designs and graphic elements.  Create slide shows.

Computing Fundamentals
Identify the function of computer hardware components and commom problems associated with individual components. Identify different types of computers, how computers work (process information) and how individual computers fit into larger systems.

Key Applications
Identify common on-screen elements of Windows applications, change application settings, and manage files within an application.

Living Online
Identifying network fundamentals and the benefits and risks of networking computing. Identify how electronic mail works. Be able to use a Web browsing application. Be able to search the Internet for information.


CLASS HOURS

All classes meet four days a week for three hours daily, for a total of 96 classroom hours over the eight-week period.

Every effort is made to accommodate each participant's needs. Those with similar training goals are grouped together.  Scheduling options include:
