Vocational Evaluation & Career Planning

This service assesses aptitudes, interests and educational skills through an individual battery of tests.  Other assessments of clerical, computer, or mechanical skills also may be completed.  Results are used for educational and vocational planning to help the participant make career choices.

Work Evaluation

The team evaluates the participant's on-the-job behaviors and physical capabilities either at the Tommy Nobis Center or in a community-based setting. The participant performs actual work on a variety of tasks to determine work stamina, vocational interests and aptitudes, ability to get along with coworkers and supervisors, and motivation to work.

Employment Development Services

This "real work" program helps an individual develop the necessary physical capacities, proper work habits and skills, and social and interpersonal skills to obtain and maintain employment. Program managers and supervisors provide ongoing support and training on the job site to ensure the participant's success.

Supported Employment Program

This service is designed to provide intensive one on one training and ongoing support for individuals with significant disabilities that will help them obtain and maintain employment in community businesses.

Employment Skills Training / Office Technology Training

Computer Training Center courses combine skills training with practical work-simulation exercises. Our Office Technology Trainer instructs students in Keyboarding, Data Entry, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Computing Core (IC3), Internet and Job-Readiness. Specific courses are offered in Customer Service/Help Desk and Beginning Office Technology.

Enrollment Eligibility

Participants are referred to the Tommy Nobis Center through the Georgia Department of Labor/Vocational Rehabilitation Program, metro area schools, Veterans Administration, Workers Compensation Insurance Companies, and/or other rehabilitation providers. A self-referral can be made to the TNC Program Coordinator at (770) 427-9000.
