Volunteer Opportunities - Vocational Training for Persons with Disabilities
Area of Service - Classroom Instruction
- Group or Individual - Individual
- Description Of Duties - Teach life skills (such as grooming, money management, basic cooking); completing job applications/resumes; preparation for job interviews, etc. Basic lesson plans are provided. Class sizes range from 4-10.
- Training Required - No prior training necessary. Summary of activities or case notes may be required.
- Time Commitment - Tuesday and/or Thursday 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. and/or 10:15 - 11:15 a.m.
Area of Service - Mock Interviews
- Group or Individual - Individual
- Description Of Duties - Act as the employer in a mock interview; give feedback to client for strengthening his interview.
- Training Required - No prior training necessary; hiring experience preferred. Summary of activities or case notes may be required.
- Time Commitment - Tuesday and/or Thursday 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. and/or 10:15 - 11:15 a.m.
Area of Service - Transportation
- Group or Individual - Individual
- Description Of Duties - Act as the employer in a mock interview; give feedback to client for strengthening his interview.
- Training Required - Driver's license and clean motor vehicle record; must have on file at the Center
- Time Commitment - Periodic times - Monday - Friday for 2-3 hours conducting 4-6 interviews at your office or at the Center.
Area of Service - Social Activities
- Group or Individual - Group or Individual (Volunteer teens welcome)
- Description Of Duties - Chaperone a group on a social outing such as bowling, dining out, movie, baking cookies, games, arts, etc. TNC staff will be in attendance.
- Training Required - None; everyone pays their own way.
- Time Commitment - Friday evenings once per month at 6:00 p.m. Everyone will meet at the Center and/or have the activity at the Center.
Area of Service - Holiday Activities
- Group or Individual - Individual or Group
- Description Of Duties - Assist with holiday baskets, gift shopping, wrapping for economically eligible clients, and preparation for Holiday party.
- Training Required - No prior training.
- Time Commitment - Monday - Friday during workday.
